Tyler is experiencing his first year of tackle football. He loves the hitting part, but hates getting tackled. They're running his short legs to death, which explains the hot baths. We really should get a hot tub.
He is on the 3rd and 4th grade squad. Being a third grader and still learning the plays, coach has him at defensive end. He is doing great at getting low and powering his opponent backwards. the hard part is getting him to release towards the ball carrier. He is getting it day by day. It would be nice if the kid blocking him would quit holding him. (as shown in the action pic) I took a few pics in practice today. One is with his good friend Aric, who has learned to shoot the gap from linebacker and get to the quarterback. You can see his dad pointing him in the right direction. Two weeks ago these kids weren't quite sure what to do, but are quickly learning, and making a name for themselves. Our first game is in a week and a half. It should be fun.
